To complete the task I was given was a weekend box office report with 15 films in total on it, these films were Sausage Party, Ben-Hur, Don’t Breathe, Bad Moms, Kubo and the Two Strings, Finding Dory, Hell or High Water, Brotherhood, The BFG, Suicide Squad, Captain fantastic, War Dogs, Café Society, Jason Bourne and Anthropoid. I then had to look which company made the most money in that weekend, I found out that Finding Dory was the leading film that weekend therefore this made Disney £40,096,594. On the other hand, Warner Bros had 3 films out that weekend which made them £37,451,691 , these films were Suicide Squad, War Dogs and Café Society.
We research into the media sectors to find out which things will sell, for example right now action / fantasy films are doing really well, for example Marvel Avengers Assemble and Age Of Ultron. The first weekend release of Avengers Assemble they made £621,075,21.22 in the UK. Age Of Ultron made £590,772,57.27 in the first weekend of release in the UK. When companies now go to research films they can find how well certain films performed by the statistics of the UK and World Box Office.
